Textile Reinforced Concrete (TRC) are mesh-like structures with fibres made of alkali-resistant
glass, carbon, or basalt. It is a prefabricated novel lightweight high-performance composite
material that can be used as a load-bearing or non-load-bearing component of prefabricated
buildings. The main advantage of those reinforcements is – in contrast to conventional steel
reinforcements – their non-corrosive behavior, thus, reducing concrete covers significantly. Only
10mm – 15mm are necessary for a proper bond between textile and concrete resulting in
member thicknesses of only 20mm – 30mm, which highly reduces material costs.
