The continuous growth of demand for energy in recent decades has always caused concerns. The increase in the price of energy carriers, environmental pollution, the lack of fossil fuels, the congestion in energy transmission lines due to the increase in demand and other such concerns caused the need to review the energy management systems. Since the traditional energy management system does not adequately respond to the needs of consumers, the integration of energy infrastructure and the use of more clean and renewable resources have been proposed as the main solutions. In this regard, various definitions have been presented for an integrated system from energy transmission point of view, among these definitions, the concept of “energy hubs” has attracted a lot of attentions. With the concept of energy hubs and by using different energy infrastructures and suitable tools such as distributed generation and storage systems, an effective step can be taken to reduce energy costs. In this report, firstly, a conceptual model for energy hubs in different scales will be described, in such a way that different energy carriers be able to supply demand response appropriately, then the applications of hub energy in the electricity production and distribution industry are studied
